Important — please read carefully
MindNavigator supports neurodivergent young people in their personal development. We offer educational tools and access to practitioners, but we are not a medical institution. This disclaimer describes what we do and do not do, and your responsibilities as a user.
For parents: This disclaimer also applies to use by your children. Discuss its contents with your child where relevant.
For young people: If you have questions about this disclaimer, ask your parents or get in touch with us.
In emergencies: If there is immediate danger or suicidal thoughts, call your local emergency number. In the Netherlands: dial 112 (emergency) or 113 Suicide Prevention (0800-0113). If you are outside the Netherlands, contact your local emergency services.
1. What MindNavigator IS
1.1 Educational platform for personal development
Our core features are:
- Self-reflection tools and daily coaching tips.
- A marketplace to connect with qualified practitioners.
- A community for connection and a dashboard for parent-child insight.
1.2 Our audience
We are here for neurodivergent young people (ages 12–18) and their parents/guardians who are looking for support with day-to-day challenges and personal growth.
2. What MindNavigator is NOT
2.1 Not a medical institution
We explicitly do NOT provide medical diagnoses, psychological treatment, medication advice, or crisis intervention. We never replace a general practitioner, psychologist, or other healthcare professional.
2.2 Not a legal or official authority
Our platform does not make official statements about school capabilities, fitness for work, or legal proceedings, and does not replace official reports or declarations.
3. Our AI and Automated Systems
3.1 AI-generated content
Our AI analyses tool responses to generate personalized tips and recommendations. This AI is not perfect and the insights should be seen as a starting point for reflection, not as a final conclusion.
3.2 Pattern recognition vs. diagnosis
Our tools recognize patterns in behavior and preferences. This is not a medical or psychological diagnosis and never replaces professional assessment.
3.3 Limitations of AI
- AI can make mistakes and is based on the quality of the input you provide.
- AI advice is general and not tailored to complex medical or psychological situations.
- Use AI insights as an aid, not as a replacement for professional advice.
4. Marketplace and External Practitioners
4.1 Our role as facilitator
MindNavigator facilitates the contact, communication, and payments between you and a practitioner. However, we are not responsible for the content, quality, or outcomes of individual sessions.
4.2 Practitioner responsibility
All practitioners are independent professionals responsible for their own services. We screen them on qualifications and background checks (VOG in the Netherlands), but cannot guarantee that every session will meet your expectations.
4.3 Your responsibility as a user
- Check whether a practitioner matches your specific needs.
- Provide feedback about your experience so we can safeguard quality.
- Report problems or complaints directly via our platform.
5. Specific Disclaimers for Minors
5.1 Safety procedures
If we receive signals of unsafe situations (such as abuse or suicidal thoughts), we are legally required to act in accordance with the applicable reporting code and to engage professional help (such as Veilig Thuis in the Netherlands).
5.2 Balancing privacy and safety
In acute safety situations, the safety of a child always takes precedence over privacy. We will then take the necessary steps to engage help, even without prior consent.
5.3 Role of parents and guardians
Parents remain ultimately responsible for their child's wellbeing. Our platform is a supplement to, not a replacement for, parental supervision and care.
6. When to Seek Professional Help
6.1 Clear signals for professional help
Our platform is not sufficient in case of:
- Acute situations: suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, psychosis, or immediate danger.
- Structural issues: depression, eating disorders, trauma, severe anxiety disorders.
- Medication-related: questions about medication, side effects, or dosage.
- Legal matters: official declarations, school capabilities, or fitness for work.
6.2 Where to turn
- Acute problems: call your local emergency number. In the Netherlands: 112 (emergency) or 113 Suicide Prevention (0800-0113, free 24/7).
- Structural support: your general practitioner is the first point of contact for a referral to specialist (youth) mental healthcare.
- Safety: in the Netherlands, call Veilig Thuis (0800-2000) for concerns about domestic violence or child abuse. Outside the Netherlands, contact your local equivalent.
- School issues: contact the school counsellor or internal student support.
7. Liability and Risks
7.1 Limitation of liability
MindNavigator is not liable for:
- The consequences of AI advice or self-reflection tools.
- The outcomes of self-help or personal development.
- The services of external practitioners on our platform.
- Damages from incorrect interpretation or use of our platform.
7.2 Your own responsibility
As a user, you are responsible for:
- Providing honest and accurate information.
- Correctly interpreting the limitations of our platform.
- Seeking professional care in time when needed.
- Discussing important insights with a professional.
Parents are ultimately responsible for their child's wellbeing and must remain actively involved in their child's use of our platform.
